I’ve assembled a contact sheet of all 42 images so far. I’m thinking of adding one more (between the concert and the throne room doors), and planning to re-draw the page with the king in silhouette, but here is the complete story as of this moment. Probably too small to comfortably read, but you’ve seen most of these images already anyway.
Still to do: a couple more drawings, digital cleanup, printing and binding.
Here’s a few images that have undergone significant digital enhancement. Especially notice the use of color temperature.
It’s Saturday, and that means more posts!
Here’s a series of photographs showing the production of Page 20.
I begin with a line drawing (1), then fill it in with flat areas of charcoal, blended by hand (2&3), then draw outlines to increase definition and sharpness (4), and do a final detail pass (5). After that it goes to digital enhancement.
These have varying degrees of digital manipulation.
All of these images will see some amount of digital post-processing, some more than others. Here I’ve done some work on enhancing the space station image (although it’s not finished yet) and I’m experimenting with some selective use of color. It seems like it could be an interesting effect if used correctly.
Here are the charcoal drawings of this week. Still need to be digitally enhanced. This is especially noticeable on the space station one, which is way too dark. I hope to post some of my process work later today.
Here are all the images I completed this week. There’s another which is about half done, plus some process work I may scan later.
None of these images have seen much digital touch-up yet, that will come later.
