About John W. Allie

Hello, I’m John W. Allie and this is the page intended to say a few words about me. This page has been in dire need of an upgrade for a couple years now, as the old "running tally" thing I had here before was difficult to keep up to date. In the meantime, consider this version a sort of stopgap measure until I can do the comic-format version I’ve been envisioning.

For now, know that I am an artist and writer currently studying at the University of Connecticut. I work in a variety of media (visible in the portfolio), and my writing encompasses prose fiction and comics. Additionally I am a long-time user of open-source software and have extensive knowledge of Linux.

I am greatly interested in comics, a fact which becomes harder on my bank account every day. I’m a long-time science fiction fan, following things from Philip K. Dick to Star Trek. I’m an avid reader in general, and I believe Margaret Atwood to be the greatest writer working in English today. I also enjoy classical music, particularly the Russian composers, and am an amateur violinist and thereminist.

Occasionally you may see me online as "PlantPerson," a nickname I’ve adopted partly because I like plants and partly because I like the B-movie connotation.
