Very interesting, it's good to know you put so much thought into this. Most fantasy ships I know of use the SS prefix. Most likely they don't even know what it means.

Aircraft have specific identification numbers, such as those visible on this list here: ” target=”_blank”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_by_... Experimental aircraft serial numbers include an X (in Sunrise I put the X at the beginning, in the real world I think it may vary). The Stradivarian and the Akhenaten are both the first of their types, so they both have an X. The Akhenaten is X96701 and (as can be seen here) the Stradivarian is X99745. Though in real life the numbers would probably mean something specific, in Sunrise they don't mean anything. The "RAS" is a ship prefix for Rigid Airship. I didn't want to use real prefixes for these ships, particularly SS, which stands for steamship, and therefore makes no sense, so instead I invented the RAS prefix.

So what's the letters and numbers on the side of the ship mean? Or are they just random.
