A word about the presence of hydrogen on board the Akhenaten. Yes, I realize that hydrogen-filled airships are a terrible idea. However, the Akhenaten is not a hydrogen airship, it uses (as Raven mentioned a few weeks ago) heated-helium lift; but it also has a small hydrogen envelope. The hydrogen is used as fuel for the generators. The idea is that the hydrogen not only provides energy but also a small kick in the lift. It’s a little far-fetched I guess, but hey, it’s an alternate history!
